Nostradamus was a French apothecary and seer who lived in the 1500′s. He published a book in 1555 called Les Propheties, meaning The Prophecies. The book contained a collection of quatrains. Quatrains are 4 line poems. The quatrains were prophecies regarding events about the world and how those events would affect the world’s future. The prophecies are not clear and exact in their meaning. They are symbolic which results in people making multiple interpretations and conclusions.
Many of the prophecies that Nostradamus made were centered around the calendar year of 2012. The predictions for the year 2012 include the rise of the Antichrist, beginning of the third world war and the end of the world. Each prophecy is interpreted from the quatrains in the book. The prophecies for Nostradamus do not pinpoint an exact date of the end of the world.
The prediction about the rise of the Antichrist centers around the election of America’s first African American president. The prophecy goes on to state that the Antichrist would be named Mabus. Several theorists conclude that the name Mabus can be derived from the last two letters of the name Obama and from the first three letters of the name Bush.
Another prediction for the year 2012 found in the book by Nostradamus is about the beginning of World War III. The quatrain claims that an African American would become president and that the election would lead to events that would cause the beginning of the third world war. The prophecy also states that a planet will collide with Earth, a war between the Christian and Arab faiths will transpire. The war will last for 30 years and devastate the entire world except for India and China. It goes on to state that after the war a new leader will then bring hope and peace for 1000 years.
The biggest prediction that Nostradamus wrote about in his book was the end of the world. The prophecy concerning the end of the world states that there will be great trouble among mankind. That a greater one is prepared. The prophecy goes on to say that the great mover of the universe will reverse time and cause rain, blood, hunger, mass weapons and disease. The prophecy also states there will be a fire seen in the heavens.
Nostradamus’ prophecy foretelling the end of the world coincides with predictions of the impending apocalypse made by other prophets from other religions including the ancient Mayan people. The end of the world is said to occur on December 21, 2012 according to the Mayan prophecies. The Mayans are considered to have invented the most accurate calendar. The Mayan people based their years on the Long Count Calendar.
The Long Count Calendar began in 3,114 BC. Mayan time was measured in periods of 394 years which were called Baktuns. The number 13 was a sacred number of the Mayan people and according to their calendar the 13th Baktun is said to end on December 21, 2012 at 11:11 am GMT. This is when the conjunction of the Galactic Equator with the Milky Way will transpire. The Mayan people named this the Sacred Tree. Mayan mythology suggested that the sun is a god and the milky way is thought of as the doorway of life and death. They believed that when the conjunction happened in the past it was the moment of creation. When the event occurs in 2012 it is seen as an ending. This prophecy was found on a stone tablet at an archaeological dig site in the 1960′s in the Gulf of Mexico. The stone tablet goes to on describe the return of a Mayan God with the end of the 13th Baktun. The Mayan prophecy also states that there will be a solar shift, Venus will move and devastating earthquakes will happen on Earth.
Many theorists believe that the prophecies made by Nostradamus for the year 2012 will come true as evidenced by other predictions that were foretold by Nostradamus that actually happened. Some of the prophecies foretold by the seer that came to pass include Napoleon’s rise, the London Fire, The French Revolution, Hitler and 9-11. The 9-11 prophecy spoke of two great rocks which theorists claim represented the United States and the war against terror. It continues with the statement of a new city which is said to be New York and concludes with a volcanic fire coming from the center of the earth. The volcanic fire is representative of the twin towers catching fire and collapsing to the ground.
